Except for those things that are carefully planned, all others need to be closely looked upon. These should be evaluated whether they are necessary to the accomplishment of your goals or not. These should be checked whether completing them would take you closer to where you want to be.
There are many things that a person does that have no connection with the completion of his goals. These things need to be taken out from his list so that he can devote his time purely to tasks that are important. These tasks may be personal or those for business - whatever they are for, as long as they are important to your growth - should be given utmost priority.
Time demons have no place in your world. You should not allow these time wasters to hinder your goals. You want to succeed in both your work and life - thus these demons have to be knocked out.
Heavenly Tips to Knock Out Time Demons ? Spend less time in emails.
You should limit the amount of time you spend on reading and replying emails. You should sort messages so that you will only spend time reading those that are important. You should only reply to those that you think are necessary. The other emails can wait when you have some more free time.
You should not unnecessarily give out your email address to just anybody. This will eliminate the chances of emails reaching your inbox that may be of no use and with no substance. Especially for your email address at work, you should not use it for communicating with friends.
By doing so, you will not have to do additional sorting activity of your email messages at work. It takes a good amount of time determining those emails at work that needs your real attention - with messages from friends in your inbox, you will have more non-value adding activities in your hands. You will have to do more sorting and contend with the temptation of reading your friends' emails that may slow you down in completing your tasks at work.
Also, there are a lot of spam emails out there - even with spam filters in place - some will still manage itself into your inbox. Immediately delete such emails and don't even bother trying to open these - it will just be a waste of time and you may just end up bumping into a virus. With a virus on your computer, you will need a good amount of time to address it. So that you won't spend so much time dealing with a virus, get the experts to do it for you.
Another tip would be to reply to emails in short & brief sentences. Emails are informal ways to communicate, you should not spend so much time in your replies. It is a good rule of thumb to answer at three sentences at most when replying.
You should consider meeting the individual in person if the reply would require you to come up with more sentences - seemingly forming an essay. If it is a group you are replying to - like in your job for example - a meeting may be called for to discuss what you want to talk about.
? No long talks over the phone.
Talking with a friend over the phone may be very addictive. You may not want to put it down - as if you only have that chance to keep in touch. Yet giving in to your urge to keep on going and talking over the phone will be a waste of time.
You should always be conscious of the time you spend each time you use the phone. Especially at work, you should minimize the amount of time you spend at each call. At times your colleagues at work will want to insert a discussion on non-work related matters with you - and you will most willingly give in. This will affect your completion time for your tasks if you keep on doing so.
Make good use of your phone. You can utilize your phone effectively to make things convenient for you. In so doing, you can complete your tasks faster. Only by using technology and such tools intelligently will you become efficient in the activities that you need to do.
? Less chitchats please.
Small talks are a good way to prevent stress from mounting up. This will keep your mind off work for some time - allowing for some variety to a usually routing work. Yet too much chitchats will not be to your advantage in the long run.
You should also remember that you are in your workplace and is paid for producing good work. You are in no way paid to waste company time to talk with friend over non-work related matters.
You will do yourself a favor, as well as your company, by doing without chitchats. By not engaging in chitchats, you will have more time to do what you are paid to do - and that is to complete your assigned task & get the job done. Engage yourself in value adding activities only - and you will be able to complete a lot with the time you have.
? Leaving no place for worries.
As much as possible, you should not dwell on something undesirable that has not happened yet. Being a negative thinker will take your concentration away and make you lose your focus. You will find yourself taking too much time to complete tasks. You will observe yourself to be less effective in carrying out tasks as well.
Worrying in a way is good. It keeps you on your feet, making you strive to do a better job. It helps you keep your personal standards up so that you can meet the expectations of the people you look up to. Worry will also make you constantly check on your time to see if you are within schedule or not.
Yet worrying too much will be detrimental to you. You will be consumed by it and you will not have enough resources in your mind & body for other things. You will be drained of all positive energy for the right attitude to complete your tasks. You will be mentally, physically and emotionally drained to carry out tasks effectively & efficiently.
The result? - uncompleted work, missed deadlines, low quality of job done and low morale. This is not the situation you want to be in. It is thus good not to let worry ruin your day. Believe that you have what it takes and do what the best you can in your work - in the end you will be correspondingly rewarded by your efforts & right attitude.
? Dealing with procrastination immediately.
You should not put off what you can do now to a later time - in most probability you will postpone it again and end up missing the deadline. If you do meet the deadline, you will beat it by a hairline. Procrastination is a good way towards stressing yourself out towards a heart attack - well it may be overstated, but you get the point.
Procrastination is a time demon that is pretty hard to knock out. It would take a good amount of will and determination to fight it. It would require you make that valiant first step and meet it face to face. You then have to continue on and work on the job at hand.
The important thing in dealing with procrastination is to address it immediately. It is only natural for humans to have that inclination to pass up on work if possible. And so you wait on that mood or that time when you feel like doing the job - and work only when such time comes. But if you continue on this way, you will not have lots of accomplishment to be proud of. You will have lots of missed deadlines though to boast of.
? Keep television viewing at a minimum.

One can actually spend the whole day in a comfortable couch and watch television until he has got enough. But with such scenario, how much work can you actually produce? Not much I guess.
Television is a good way to watch news to be updated on current events. There are also some channels that are informative and educational. It is also good to watch entertaining television shows or movies from time to time. But one should not overdo this activity though. One should set limits on his television viewing so as to be able to make productive use of his time.
? Addressing your laziness.
Do your best and God will do the rest - a saying many have subscribed to, to inspire themselves in doing a good work no matter where they are at. Indeed, to those who work hard - they will eventually reap the seeds they planted. If your religion believes of a Divine Being who constantly watches over you - then you are to expect His hands opening up blessings to shower upon you and the work that you do.
In this world, laziness has no place in success stories. You will amount to nothing if you will not set goals and work your way towards it. If you don't have the drive or passion to reach your goals, you are bound for failure.
It is thus advisable that you re-evaluate your current standing and really know what you want in life. Make your goal become your motivation in erasing laziness in your vocabulary. Motivate yourself - and you will find it easier to work hard and accomplish tasks that will take you nearer to your ultimate goal.
? Minimize extra-curricular activities.
Many have involved themselves in clubs and organizations. Being a member of such will take much of your time especially when regular meetings are set - and when there are special programs upcoming.
These organizations may eat up your time unnecessarily. You will be committed to many gatherings and social meetings that will take you out from the limited time you have for the many important things you still want to do.
So as not to be caught in this trap, you should choose your organizations carefully. Choose only those that you think are important to you and those that have existed for worthy causes. Be a member only on those that you know you can be active in.
? Saying "NO!" to peer pressure.
A lot of times, your friends will want your time for themselves. They want you to consistently be with them and have fun with them. They want your company and your friendship - every time. Every time?! Don't you think there is something wrong here?
Peer pressure has always managed to take someone out of his original plans. It all starts when you were a kid, in school - and even in the workplace. Good if your peers were not time wasters and used time responsibly - then you wouldn't be in an unnecessary bind.
But if yours are friends who want to constantly party and hang out in bars & clubs - you may not have time for yourself doing what you want in relation to your goals in life. The time you plan to use for study or for work or even for self-improvement purposes will be in conflict with activities your peers pressure you to come to.
Learning to say "No!" to peer pressure will do well in eliminating this time waster. An emphatic "No!" is a good way to knock out this time demon. But along with this should be your discipline to really walk your talk.
