Should You Buy A Time Management Calendar?

Part of good time management is keeping track of what you do in a day or week. This means scheduling your time. This not only helps avoid conflicts in appointments, but also helps you see if there is any free time you can make for doing certain tasks or delegating it to others. There are many kinds of time management calendars available for sale in print form and in digital form. Should you invest in one?

Free Versions

You really don t need to buy a time management calendar when there are free versions available on the web or you just make one yourself. However, if you can write them off your taxes as business supplies (if you are self employed, for example), then do so. Just be sure you use them. Don t just buy time management calendars because you will be able to write them off at tax time. This ultimately winds up wasting you money.

If you go online, just type in "time management calendar" into your favorite search engine. You might have to type in "time management planner" or "time use chart" in order to get the kind of time management calendar you want. You then print out the templates made available on the web and fill them in.

If you are stuck at an airport, can't sleep at night or if your printer is on the blink, then just make your own time management calendar. All you need is pen and paper (or pencil and paper if you prefer even crayon and paper, but some writing utensil and paper). You then make a column of half hours of your waking day down the left side of the paper and fill them in with the tasks on the other side of the paper.

What's The Point?

In order to get things done, you often need to set yourself an artificial deadline and then you have the subconscious pressure of that deadline in order to get your tasks done. If you know you have only one hour left to do a report and have been putting it off all week, suddenly you'll find the motivation to get that report done in well under an hour.

Perhaps you don t realize how much (or how little) time you need to get a task done. By making a time management calendar, you can boss your subconscious into getting what you have to do done with out procrastinating, worrying about tomorrow's tasks or being distracted by other things.
